Support Dryland Forest Restoration

The annual Run for the Dry Forest is a collaborative event, hosted by the Hawaiʻi State Division of Forestry and Wildlife, Nāpuʻu Natural Resource Management, Hawaiʻi Wildlife Fund, Three Mountain Alliance, and Akaka Foundation for Tropical Forests.

Proceeds will be used for research and management at Pu’uwa‘awa‘a and adjacent Pu‘u Anahulu. Over 95% of Hawaiʻi’s native dryland forests are gone, leaving only a fragile 2–5% behind. This makes them one of the most endangered ecosystems on Earth, with many species now threatened, endangered, or lost to fire, invasive species, and drought. Ongoing projects in Pu‘uwa‘awa‘a include fountain grass control, construction and maintenance of fire breaks, and planting native species.
